Our Story

In August of 2022 Josh and Lauren took a leap of faith and opened Optical On Point. Josh has been in the eyecare industry since 2007. He started at the local Visionworks while working his way through college. Josh committed to living out Galatians 6:10 in his work of helping people with eyeglasses. Galatians 6:10 is a verse from the Bible that encourages us to embrace a mindset of generosity and kindness in our interactions with others. It reminds us that, as we go about our daily lives, we should be on the lookout for opportunities to do good to everyone. Josh is uniquely gifted with the interpersonal and optical skill to make getting glasses an enjoyable experience.

“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone…” – Galatians 6:10 ESV

A consultant told us that we would need an $80,000 small business loan for necessary startup costs. Instead of borrowing money, we asked God to provide the things that were needed to open the store. In extraordinary ways, God sent exactly the right people and things we needed to open the store. This was a real life example of 2 Chronicles 16:9, God showing himself strong on our behalf.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.” – 2 Chronicles 16:9 ESV

We are deeply grateful to the many people who supported us in so many different ways. The location, our frames, optical furniture, the carpet, lab equipment and supplies. People came from South Carolina, Ohio, and even Thailand to help set Optical On Point on a firm foundation.

Optical On Point would not be what it is today with the contributions of each one of these people. Mr. Rogers said, “the greatest gift you ever give is your honest self.” That is what we try to do here at Optical On Point and these people doing that helped make it possible.

The idea in Galatians 6:10 is exemplified in the lives of Mr. Rogers and Mother Teresa. Their lives and these quotes are part of what Josh seeks to live out every day.
